Palm Pilot

I pulled out my old Palm Pilot the other day after an amazing thought - my BlackBerry charger might fit!Success!!! It did. The charger to my Palm is in an undisclosed location at the moment (for the past 7 months) and the little guy hasn't been used since last summer. I don't have my software or user manual so I'm a little rusty. But for the most part, I think I'm ready to get reorganized. It is possible, isn't it? I feel like I've been living in chaos my entire life. Not really my ENTIRE life, but a good bit of it. Why? It's safe to say "don't ask, don't tell." But if you must know, I do have a private blog that I keep up with the tidbits here and there. Ask me about it some time...

{Quick update}

Since things are beginning to get a little better I thought it was time for a much-needed update...
First, I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. It has meant so much to us and is deeply appreciated.

Second, there have been many changes and I can't wait to get them going. Soon there will be a new site and blog and both will include explanations! Right now we are waiting on some equipment repairs and updates which will hopefully be completed late today. The new site will include new prices, policies and information. The blog will stay updated regularly. I can't say for sure what will be considered "regular" as of yet. The most exciting news is that we have studio space! There is tons of work still being done and I can't even give an estimate of when it will be complete. Jessica is also going to be returning and I am pleased to introduce everyone to her! She'll get a proper introduction when the site is updated!

Finally, I'll get to the orders. Thanks to everyone for their patience. It has been very hectic and I had to take a break from sessions just to get caught up! For anyone who has placed an order: I am waiting on ink and mailing supplies to arrive and will be putting the orders out as soon as I get them. You will receive notification when your order is on its way. If I have not notified you already, you'll get a little something extra for your understanding!

One more thing. It keeps happening and I don't know how many other ways to explain this... NO OTHER CAMERAS ARE ALLOWED ON ANY SESSIONS OR AT WEDDINGS WHILE I AM PHOTOGRAPHING! I will be including a stricter policy in my contract and enforcing it in the future. But let me stress to you the importance of this policy. First and foremost this can interfer with the overall quality of your photographs. Overexposure is not a pleasant thing and does NOT accent your pictures in any way! Another reason is time. It takes up additional time to everyone involved - children especially get very impatient and tired of being asked to stand still for one more moment. This extra time can also limit the number of images that I am able to provide when it is time for your proofing session. Please keep all of these things in mind when it is time for your session.

What I'm working on

I am working on something that I think will be both enjoyable and informative. Right now I must keep my lips sealed. But in the midst of that, I'll give a little sneak peak of something that may be included.

Self-image and deception. What causes someone to hide their true identity? To deceive the world of their true self-image.

I LOVE my camera - I HATE having it turned on me. I see so many pictures that other people take of me and I loathe them. I feel like I have an image of myself that I want to show the world. How can I do that? Honestly? I feel like - if I show people what I see when I look at me, I'll be deceiving them. Is this so? What about people who refer to pictures of themselves 3 years ago? 6 years ago? They look NOTHING like that anymore. My pictures are recent. But if I want to get in my studio and be flashy, can't I do that? Can I capture myself in a way that those around me don't see that often? I didn't even put on make-up today. I was tired this morning, so its ok! "I got this!"

The picture up top was taken by my 15 year old sister with my BlackBerry. I don't see me or D. I see two other girls. My nose looks funny. My cheeks look chubby. My hair actually doesn't look that bad. But where did my curls go??? Horrible lighting but typical of a camera phone.

This next picture is what I see when I look at myself. My hair, my eyes (I shouldn't have turned my face so far), my lips. You get where I'm going with this. Mr. Bee says people don't always look the same in pictures. Of course not. But where does the line begin and end? How different are you allowed to look and be true to everyone, including yourself?
